So I’m about to shock some people- I’m recommending a non-fiction book. I hardly ever read non-fiction. I read as many as a thousand books a year, (only in a good year, it’s usually closer to 500), and maybe one to two of those are non-fiction.

The Song of the Dodo, by David Quammen, is an absolutely amazing book. It details the development and history of the science of island biogeography from Darwin and Wallace on. A friend of mine on facebook was looking for a non-fiction recommendation about the development of a biological science, and I immediately remembered that this was sitting on my bookshelf. Absolutely fantastic, give it a look.
